Without doubt, I have already gained some amazing experiences working at ABP, such as working on my own projects under the supervision of mentors.

Undoubtedly, one of the best experiences was a week in Eskdale, Cumbria, with my cohort of 2nd year apprentices, working with the ‘Outward Bound Trust’ on Teamwork, Communication and Working Skills.  This also included outdoor activities; Gorge Scrambling and Camping, whilst learning how to integrate and communicate as part of team more effectively.  These are all important attributes as an engineer working on a busy quay side port environment.

There are plenty of excellent opportunities to continue a career within ABP following completion of an apprenticeship, whether continuing in a similar role or if you wish to progress through the organisation into management in the future.  Personally, I would love to gain a full-time role within the Engineering Departments at ABP following my apprenticeship completion and maybe one day, hope to progress into a management role.  Without doubt, I would recommend an Associated British Ports Apprenticeship to any young person.  The amount of help, support and guidance I have been given to date has been invaluable and with a great team of mentors in place to help push me to further my career as an engineer, I would not want to be an apprentice at any other company in the country.
