Welcome to the third edition of the Making Waves ABP Southampton Newsletter in 2024. I want to welcome the additional customers and port partners we have sent the newsletter to this month, and I hope you enjoy the topics within it. As ever, it has been a really busy quarter across all sectors. To date, we have welcomed over 400 RORO vessels, eight of which are brand new - demonstrating growth and innovation in this sector. These vessels have delivered and shipped thousands of new vehicles, across all of our sites in Southampton. We are storing many of the vehicles at ABP Solent Gateway and, therefore, already utilising part of the new 21 acres development. The successful development of phase 1a is nearing completion and will be fully operational in the Autumn.

As you can imagine and, most likely witnessed, our cruise operations remain very busy. Nine months into the year and we have supported two million passengers, with 3 months left, we are getting close to reaching another record-breaking year in terms of passenger volume. From May to September, we supported seven five-ship days, coordinating these busy days requires a huge amount of careful planning, teamwork, and dedication both across ABP Southampton and our wider port community.

I am looking forward to welcoming a new bulk business later this year. Our Projects Engineering team is currently working on converting the shed at berth 107 into a state-of-the-art cement import operation. This operation, managed by Aggregate Industries and operated by Solent Stevedores, is a great example of joint investment in bulk operations to maintain a continuous supply of lower-carbon cementitious solutions throughout the South and South West of England. With the additional storage capacity and improved infrastructure, we can support larger cement import vessels into the port.

As we enter into the final quarter of the calendar year, we are looking forward to continuing to work with you and meet face-to-face through various upcoming network functions within our sector.
