Remembrance service at the Royal Naval Patrol Service memorial

A poignant Remembrance Service was held today (Friday 11th November 2022) at the Royal Naval Patrol Service memorial at the Port of Grimsby.

Relatives of veterans, distinguished guests, and ABP colleagues came together for the service of commemoration at 11am.

Simon Bird, Regional Director of the Humber ports said: “The ports of Grimsby and Immingham played a vital role in both world wars serving as naval bases, and many of our colleagues are ex-military.

“We owe our freedom to so many and we’re proud to host this service at the memorial to those men, mostly from the fishing industry, who served in the Royal Naval Patrol Service on the trawlers transformed into minesweepers.”
