New recruits at the Port of Garston

Associated British Ports (ABP), the UK’s leading ports group, and its partners are pleased to announce that recent growth at the port has resulted in 15 new positions at the Port of Garston. The new contract with ABP and Seacon (SG), a UK port based terminal operator specialising in the handling of forest products, led to four additional positions and the expansion of Long Rake Spar’s facilities at Garston Docks has translated into another five full time roles. ABP has increased its Operations team by a further four and the engineering team has doubled from two to four to support the expansion plans at the Port.

Long Rake Spar is the largest importer of specialised decorative aggregates in the UK. ABP
has supported the company’s growth plans to bring in and store aggregates in the Northwest.

Brian McFarlane, Garston Port Manager said:
“When Long Rake Spar first arrived at the Port of Garston we made a firm commitment to support their growth ambitions. I am really pleased that we have been able to deliver on this assurance and that the Garston Docks is not only able to support our customers’ current demands but also their future needs.”

“I am delighted to see that ABP’s investments at the port are not only attracting more business to the region but also creating and supporting local jobs.”
