The ABP Coastal Half Marathon and 5k is set to get underway along the stunning Cleethorpes coastline on the 18th September. Be part of this incredible event by becoming a volunteer!

Runners from across the country and beyond are currently training to undertake the ABP Humber Coastal Half Marathon and 5k.

The event really does bring a special atmosphere to the town, and race organisers Tape2Tape promise this year will be no different!

Without any doubt the driving force behind this hugely successful event, which helps to raise funds for local charities, is the team of volunteers who support with many kinds of activities.

There are lots of different opportunities for all ages and Tape2Tape are looking for people to hand out water, t-shirts, medals and cake.

They also need course marshals on the route (preferably 17 yrs and above) children can come along with an adult on the day to marshal.

And finally… people who LOVE talking pictures - you do not have to be a professional! Tape2Tape’s online platform hosts all the pictures taken at the race and makes them freely available to runners.

Tape2Tape Managing Director, Nicola Pattison said:

“If you’d love to take up the opportunity to volunteer at the event but perhaps feel a little daunted, then rest assured that you will be welcomed with open arms as part of our Race Makers. The event is lots of fun for anyone that volunteers, it is very rewarding to help create this event, and to see all the runners achieving something is very special too. You will definitely leave the event smiling and feeling energised!”

Across the race there are nine zones, each of which is represented by a community group, charity, or local business. The zones are hubs of support for runners with refreshments, cake, clapping and cheering on offer to bolster them as they progress through their challenge.

There are still places available for those who would like to take up this incredible coastline running challenge.

Nicola added: If you have never run before but you’d like to, one of the best places to start is the NHS Couch to 5k plan which is free to download. This nine-week plan is fool proof. Once you get started you will feel the benefits not only in your level of fitness but also your mental health. With all exercise if you have any medical conditions, we advise you always seek advice from your GP in advance.
