The Port of Hull welcomed the cruise vessel Silver Cloud recently. Run by Silversea Cruises the luxurious vessel is undertaking a tour of the British Isles.

Having sailed overnight from Eyemouth, in the Scottish Borders, the ship called at Hull before leaving for its onward journey to Ramsgate in Kent.

Aboard the Silver Cloud were 236 passengers from countries around the world, including the United States, Australia, Italy and New Zealand.

Upon their arrival at King George Dock, passengers departed the vessel for the day to visit key attractions in the region. A range of excursions were on offer, from trips to York and Castle Howard to tours of Hull and hikes across the Yorkshire Wolds.

Simon Bird Regional Director for ABP Humber

“The Port of Hull offers cruise providers a superb location for their guests to explore the region, which brings a welcome boost to the leisure and tourism sector.”

This is the second time the Silver Cloud has visited Hull, having also visited last year. A great deal of activity happens behind the scenes at the port, to welcome calling cruises such as this. The Dock Master and Operations Team work to ensure all the provisions, such as the vessel berth, marquees, security and coaches are in place for the cruise guests to have an enjoyable and safe visit.

Simon continued: “The teams here at ABP Humber really do invest a great deal of effort and time into making sure everything goes smoothly.”

The Astoria will be the next cruise ship to visit the Port of Hull, making seven visits in total from September to November. Along with cruises, the port supports P&O’s daily ferry service to and from Zeebrugge and Rotterdam.
