Simon Bird Director of ABP Humber

We were delighted to support this group of young people with their endeavour to make it to Silverstone. Hopefully the experience will inspire them to pursue a career in engineering and continue to develop the electric car technology which will undoubtedly be a big part of our future.

On the 17th October the Healing Racers joined other racing teams at the Silverstone Circuit in Towcester; here they enjoyed a guided tour of the famous racetrack’s facilities and of course the big race where they finished 15th out of 60 racers in their category.

Managing Director of On Line Design, Brendan Conlan said: “We would like to thank ABP for their kind sponsorship, the contribution isn’t just about the money, it was about the experience of a lifetime that it has helped to forge in the group of young people. How many people get behind the scenes at Silverstone and get to drive competitively on the track? I think it’s also the fact that the pupils can see that organisations on their doorstep do care about their outcomes as well. So thank you ABP for helping make it happen. Here’s to getting a top ten finish in 2020.”

Mrs Dewland Principal

To beat stiff competition from other schools and colleges participating in the F24 challenge, across the Humber region, has been a fantastic achievement for our school. It’s a terrific, enjoyable and rewarding way of encouraging boys and girls into the STEM subjects. We are so proud they made it through to Silverstone and so grateful to all our sponsors, particularly ABP, for funding our pupils to go to Silverstone to compete.

In April the City of Hull was the location for the UK’s first ever 'Electric Car Street Race'. Over 50 teams participated, including the Healing Racers, who won both the heats and then went on to race at Blyton Park where they finished 1st and 2nd in their category against cars from all over the North of England.
