ABP Engineering Apprentices Sam Bevan and Josh Cooper achieved recognition at the highest level in the prestigious Hull and East Yorkshire People in Business Awards.

The awards recognise and reward individual and team talent in all industries across Hull and East Yorkshire. The award ceremony took place last week in Hull at the Double Tree by Hilton with over 400 guests in attendance.

Sam Bevan, a 4th year apprentice based on the Port of Immingham, was announced the winner of the ‘Above and Beyond’ category that recognises those individuals who consistently exceed expectations, whilst demonstrating a co-operative positive attitude.

Josh Cooper who is also in the 4th year of his apprenticeship based at the Port of Hull, was the runner up in the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ category which recognises an individual completing an apprenticeship in any sector who has demonstrated a strong commitment to their personal development and have high ambition for progression.

Both Sam and Josh are due to complete their four-year Engineering Apprenticeships by the end of August.

Simon Bird, Regional Director for ABP Humber said: “We are very proud of all our apprentices both past and present. This recognition is a significant achievement for Sam and Josh, particularly as the awards were open to all sectors of industry so the competition was well fought.”

ABP apprenticeships offer the opportunity to train with the UK’s leading ports operator, in a range of disciplines, from marine pilot apprentices, to engineering, and from port operations to office and property careers. The company has invested significantly over the years, building a series of apprenticeship programmes that have received considerable external recognition, as part of ABP’s commitment to be known as being a great place to work.
