One of the most scenic races on the east coast is gearing up for its ninth year. The ABP Humber Coastal Half Marathon and 10K is billed as one of the best courses in the country.

Sponsored by Associated British Ports (ABP) and organised by Tape2Tape, the race is now in its 9th year. Runners love the event’s wonderful atmosphere and unique coastal location, alongside the Humber Estuary.

If you are considering a running challenge this year, then now is a great time to register for the race and start training. Both the half marathon and 10k are flat so if you are new to running or even striving for that personal best as a more experienced runner, the event will be perfect for you.

Andrew Dawes, Regional Director for the Humber ports said: “Our commitment to supporting this major event is vitally important, especially for the local economy but also those who benefit from the wellbeing of running. It's great it continues to grow each year and attract many supporters. Cleethorpes and the Humber coastline are an important part of the environment, and we applaud the sustainability elements of the race to support that from the material the medals are made from, to the water stations.”

Nicola and Neil Pattison from Tape2Tape said: “We are delighted that ABP Humber have again kindly agreed to support the popular annual event in Cleethorpes through to 2027. This event brings the community together through all of the community groups and charities who participate as well as benefit from the 10k and half marathon.

“Our main charity will again be with RNLI Cleethorpes who do an amazing job literally saving lives at sea. The race will see runners converge on Cleethorpes from all over the country, many of whom stay overnight in local guest houses and hotels, bringing an out of main season boost to the local economy. The one-mile family fun run is accessible for all who wish to run, walk, push a pushchair or wheelchair. A fantastic finish on Cleethorpes sea front awaits all finishers on Sunday 21st September.”

If a running challenge this year isn’t possible for you then you can still get involved with supporting the event as a volunteer Race Maker. The ABP Humber Coastal Half Mathon and 10k is supported by 300 volunteers. There is a role to suit everyone - from cheering runners on the course as a marshal, to handing out water or the iconic donuts at the end of the race; you can even volunteer as a photographer. Community groups and charities looking to volunteer as a group are welcome too.
