Associated British Ports (ABP), the UK’s largest ports operator, is proud to continue to support the Armed Forces Day in Cleethorpes, one of the major events in the region.

The national Armed Forces weekend takes place from Friday 27th to Sunday 30th June, with the main event in North East Lincolnshire taking place on the Saturday featuring a formal parade, and air and land-based displays with a focus on family activities.

Andrew Dawes, Regional Director of the Humber ports, said: “Associated British Ports is proud to support Armed Forces Day in Cleethorpes, especially this year that it has been selected as the national event – it draws over 200,000 people and stands as a powerful tribute to the dedication and sacrifice of our service personnel.

“Supporting this flagship event aligns with our core values of respect, community, and national resilience. We are honoured to stand with the Armed Forces community and celebrate their vital role in protecting and serving the nation. ABP employs many ex-military men and women not just in the Humber, but across the UK.”

Alex Baxter, Managing Director of the Armed Forces Major Event Team (AFMET), who produce the annual event, said: “We are again extremely grateful to ABP for their steadfast support to our Armed Forces Weekend in North East Lincolnshire and their continued assistance to enable the largest free event held on the East Coast to be enjoyed by all.”

The Red Arrows return for this year’s event, which will see parades, flying displays from the Typhoon, and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and capability demonstrations across the resort. Attracting over 190,000 people this is the highlight of the year bringing together military personnel, reservists, veterans and cadets.

ABP’s associations with Armed Forces Day in the resort started in 2016 when the area hosted the national event, which was attended by the then Prime Minister David Cameron and HRH Duke of Kent.

The UK’s major port operator in the Humber is also a silver tier award holder as part of the Armed Forces Covenant, showing our commitment to serving and former military personnel working within our ports.
