Over 9000 runners took part in the ABP Marathon on Sunday 6 April. The event, in its 10th year, offers a full and half marathon, 10k and 5k race, opening the event up to all levels of running. The event has become a significant fixture on the running calendar and creates a positive atmosphere within the City.
The Southampton Marathon, now re-branded Southampton Marathon Festival, has been moved to May for next year's event. It will be on the Sunday of the first May bank holiday, giving everyone that extra day to recover post-event.
In 2025, more than 160 ABP employees participated in the marathon, with many staff members running the half marathon
The running event is a great community event, with a lively atmosphere as friends, family, and residents cheer on the runners from the sidelines. This year’s atmosphere was even more special, with additional music and entertainment at key points along the route.
ABP's ongoing sponsorship of the Southampton Marathon is a key part of the ABP series, a programme of support for mass participation in wellness events close to its port locations in 2025. These include Cleethorpes (near ABP's Port of Grimsby), Newport, Cardiff, and Ipswich. The events are open to all and include two marathons, four half-marathons, three 10K runs and two 5K runs.
