  1. How long have you been at ABP? I started my apprenticeship in August 2024.
  2. What is your role and what do you do? I am an Electrical Apprentice – currently attending college full time at HETA as well as completing 3 separate weeks of work experience throughout the year.
  3. Why did you choose to work for ABP? I attended a careers day event at HETA and spoke with John and Matthew about the apprenticeship opportunity at ABP and it sounded great. Especially knowing the Electrical/Engineering teams plan placements across all the departments so we can get to experience all aspects of Electrical Engineering.
  4. What do you hope to get out of this once the apprenticeship has finished? I am hoping to secure a permanent position with ABP once I have completed my apprenticeship and continue to develop.
  5. Why would you recommend an apprenticeship? I think the apprenticeship is a better overall experience, you are gaining a qualification whilst getting work experience and a wage which gives you more freedom to develop.

  1. How long have you been at ABP? I started at ABP in August 2024.
  2. What is your role and what do you do? I am an Electrical Apprentice – currently attending college full time at HETA as well as completing 3 separate weeks of work experience with ABP throughout the year.
  3. Why did you choose to work for ABP? I live locally just up the road from ABP and have always known about ABP. My Dad suggested looking at apprenticeships with ABP as we knew how big the company was and I thought working on the Ports would be really interesting.
  4. What do you hope to get out of this once the apprenticeship has finished? I am hoping to develop a good understanding of electrical and then continue to develop my career at ABP.
  5. Why would you recommend an apprenticeship? I think an apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to get a real understanding of the world, you get the work experience plus a full qualification which is way better then college. You also get paid. I have a lot of friends asking me about my apprenticeship and how they can apply.
