Come along and visit the UK’s largest port for a free special open weekend

July 6, 2018

Ever wondered what happens behind the gates of the UK’s largest port? It’s right here in Immingham and port operators ABP, want to show it off to you.

With two exclusive open days, ABP is keen to invite the public along to enjoy an unforgettable port tour.

Whether you’ve worked on the port in the past and fancy seeing how it’s changed or if it’s your first time and you have no idea what to expect – this rare opportunity is sure to surprise you.
The free tours will commence from the Immingham Civic Centre where you’ll be greeted by ABP representatives. Get yourself some refreshments and take a seat before one of the team tells you a little more about the tour you’re about to experience.

Coaches will leave from the Civic Centre 15 minutes after the start time printed on the ticket and your guide will talk you through everything you’re about to see.
Did you know that the port of Immingham contributes to 10% of the UK’s electricity? Around 1 in 10 lights are turned on by energy cargoes which have passed through the port. On this tour, you’ll be able to see the UK’s largest biomass handling facility, which has the capacity to handle 6 million tonnes of wood pellet.

Over 25 per cent of the country's oil-refining capacity comes through pipelines into the port at Immingham - come along on the tour to view the vital infrastructure which services the impressive vessels which help to keep our heating on.

With the support of our tenants, we also handle brand new vehicles. Peep over the top of the fence line to see a wave of sparkling cars, fresh from the vessel and ready for dispatch before sale.

Simon Bird, Regional Director for ABP Humber said: “We are really looking forward to being able to open the port gates and allow public access for this special weekend. We’re keen to show off our world-class facilities and also inform the general public about exactly how many jobs we have on offer, right here in Immingham.”
