ABP South Wales is celebrating 30-years of partnership with Welsh National Opera (WNO) by supporting a pioneering Virtual Reality (VR) opera experience.

Magic Butterfly is aptly provided in a shipping container and allows visitors to step inside and experience opera using Google Daydream technology – a mobile VR platform - to engage with re-imagined scenes from The Magic Flute and Madam Butterfly.

It is the first time that an opera company has used VR technology to showcase opera. The project aims to delight those familiar with opera, as well as providing an innovative introduction to those who may have traditionally found the genre inaccessible.

By combining technology with opera homed in a shipping container that will move around the country, we have created a travelling opera that will presents make the arts more accessible to a wider audience.”
