Luke Brings His Artistic Flair to Town Quay
February 23, 2017
BUDDING artist Luke Richards has brought a nautical flourish to Town Quay thanks to his colourful designs.
A workshop created from two converted containers has been transformed with a jolly picture of childlike ships and yachts bobbing on the sea.
A former student at Hounsdown School near Totton, Luke was one of many youngsters who took part in free art sessions put on by Groundworks, the environmental regeneration charity – and his design was chosen to be adapted for the workshop.
Town Quay Manager, Lex Hanham, explained: “We chose the converted containers with a view to getting a design painted on them.
“Luke’s original design was interpreted by a group of students from Southampton City – it’s a really cheery picture that can’t help but make you smile.
“We are delighted Luke is now studying Fine Art at Peter Symonds College.”
Luke was presented with goody bags bulging with artists’ materials and a certificate to mark his contribution to Town Quay.
Chris Smith, Communities & Open Spaces Team Manager, said: “It’s been great to work with local youngsters on this project – and Luke’s design looks really great on the workshop.”
