A group of five cyclists from ABP South Wales have raised over £2700 for two local charities by taking part in a charity cycle ride organised by Tidal Lagoon Power.

Tidal Lagoon Power recruited teams from Laing O’Rourke, Alun Griffiths, Arup, GE, ABP, and the Independent Tidal Lagoon Industry Advisory Group, to join them in a 100 mile cycle from Gloucester to Swansea on Friday 20th May. Collectively the group have so far raised nearly £10,000.

The money is being split between two Welsh charities which are Friends of Stepping Stones and Ty Hafan. Stepping Stones Children's Centre provides services for pre-school children who have an emerging or diagnosed disability and is based in Swansea. Ty Hafan is one of the UK’s leading paediatric palliative care charities and offers care to children and support for their families, throughout Wales.

The team from ABP South Wales was made up of Callum Couper, Mark Elliott, Craig Christoforato, Simon Rowlands and Dan Davies who completed the ride in just over 9 hours.

Callum Couper, Port Manager for Swansea, Port Talbot & Barry said: “On behalf of the team I would like to thank everyone who supported our fundraising efforts and cheered us on the day. We’re fully committed to supporting the communities that surround our ports and are delighted with the amount that has been raised for these two local charities.”
