IMMINGHAM WELCOMES NEW CONTAINER SHIPPING SERVICE

A new weekly short-sea container-shipping service started today (13 September) at Associated British Ports’ (ABP) Port of Immingham that links the Humber port with Oslo Fjord and Rotterdam. The service is operated by Tschudi Lines North Sea AS, part of Tschudi Shipping Company, a privately owned ship-owning company based in Lysaker, Norway.

Tschudi will operate a port-to-port and door-to-door service, utilising m.v. Elegance, a 1991-built container ship with a capacity for 374 TEU. The service is expected to depart from Immingham every Friday, from Rotterdam every Saturday, arriving in Drammen, Oslo, every Monday morning.

Tschudi Logistics, part of the Tschudi Group, has opened an office in the UK, with Sue Wright having been appointed as the new Managing Director.

”With an enthusiastic and dynamic team behind me, with many years’ expertise in the Scandinavian, Baltic and European markets, we look forward to promoting Tschudi Logistics throughout the UK and offering our customers a total logistics solution, with the focus on high levels of customer service,” Ms Wright said, commenting on the new service.

Nick Palmer, ABP Port Director for Grimsby & Immingham, welcomed Tschudi to the Port of Immingham:

“We are delighted that Tschudi Lines has chosen the Port of Immingham’s Exxtor Terminal from which to launch their new container-shipping service. The new service will add a new dimension to the traditional links with Norway, the other Scandinavian and Baltic countries with whom we trade.”
