ABP SOUTH WALES PORTS’ NEW SALES & MARKETING MANAGER SCOUTS AROUND FOR NEW BUSINESS

Chris Green, 27, has recently been appointed Associated British Ports’ (ABP) new Sales & Marketing Manager for its South Wales Ports. Chris was previously the Assistant Operations Manager at ABP’s Port of Grimsby & Immingham – the UK’s largest port by tonnage – where he gained important operational and commercial grounding and experience.  Chris’s new role will see him developing new business opportunities for ABP’s South Wales Ports of Newport, Cardiff, Barry, Port Talbot and Swansea.

A graduate of Cardiff University with a degree in Marine Geography, Chris joined ABP as a Management Trainee, before taking up his position at the Port of Grimsby & Immingham. As a Management Trainee, he was assigned to ABP’s Head Office and the Port of Ipswich.

A keen Scout since childhood, Chris spends his spare time assisting in the organisation of the 21st World Scout Jamboree, to be held in 2007 in Chelmsford, Essex. The event will see over 40,000 Scouts from across the world take part in a 12-day event celebrating the centenary of Scouting, and will be the culmination of four years’ hard work for Chris and his colleagues.

Welcoming Chris onboard, John Fitzgerald, ABP Port Director for the South Wales Ports, said:

“I firmly believe that, in order to generate new commercial opportunities, a Sales & Marketing Manager requires a solid operational background. Chris has such a background and I am confident his experience will strengthen our sales efforts as we seek to expand our business across ABP’s ports in this region.”
