AGRIBULK INVESTMENT WILL HELP GROW PORT’S A major new £1.65 million blending and distribution centre is to be developed at Associated British Ports’ (ABP) Port of Immingham, on the back of a 10-year deal with IAWS Fertilisers (UK) Limited. The new 7,000 sq m facility will be equipped with two blending and bagging plants servicing high-speed bulk and packing lines. Immingham is the latest ABP port to be used as an import, blending and packing facility by IAWS, which also has operations at ABP’s Ports of Newport, Ipswich and Ayr. The development will further expand the port’s existing range of bulk cargo-handling facilities. Nick Palmer, ABP Port Director, Grimsby & Immingham, said: “We are pleased to be able to develop our relationship with IAWS by working with them at Immingham. ABP Immingham is the largest dry-bulks handling port in the UK, so we already have great expertise in handling cargoes of this nature. “By opening a new facility here at Immingham, IAWS is taking further advantage of the geographical spread of ABP’s ports. Like many other customers, IAWS benefits from ABP’s network of ports, enabling them to save on haulage costs by importing goods close to end-users.” The new facility is set to become operational on 1 January 200628th July 2005
