"HARMONY II" RETURNS TO HER ELEMENT

The landscape of Associated British Ports’ (ABP) Port of Ipswich will be altered from today – when Harmony II is re-floated from the slipway at Cliff Quay. The vessel, which has spent the last two years in the port, will begin a new life as an international floating showcase for Pedley Furniture International, the UK’s largest manufacturer of contract furniture.

Originally built in 1954, Harmony II, a 189-foot mega-yacht, will be re-launched at high tide, at 12:30pm, today, amidst much fanfare. Extensive external modifications have been carried out on the vessel, with the top deck being extended and original fittings restored.

Robert Smith, Port Manager for ABP Ipswich, commented:

“The launch of Harmony II, after two years in the Port of Ipswich, concludes a successful partnership between ABP’s Port of Ipswich and Pedley Furniture International, and re-affirms the port’s importance as a centre for ship maintenance and repair.”
