ABP ANNOUNCES BOARD CHANGES

Associated British Ports (ABP) has announced that John Copping, Port Director, Short-Sea Ports, will become Port Director, South Wales, with effect from 1 September 2004.John Fitzgerald, currently Deputy Port Manager, Grimsby & Immingham, will be promoted to replace Mr Copping as Port Director, Short-Sea Ports, with effect from 20 September 2004.

John Copping, 56, has held a number of senior management positions at ABP since joining the company in 1985.In a previous spell as Port Director for the South Wales Ports, he was instrumental in consolidating Barry, Cardiff, Newport, Swansea and Port Talbot into a single cohesive business unit.After moving to
Grimsby & Immingham, Mr Copping led a number of initiatives to increase operational capacity, including Humber International Terminal Phase 2 and the Immingham Outer Harbour development.

John Fitzgerald, 41, joined ABP from Medway Ports in 1997 and held the position of Sales and Marketing Manager, Grimsby & Immingham, for five years before being promoted to his current post in 2002, in which he supported the Port Director in developing the operational capacity of the ports.
