RECORD MONTH FOR ABP IPSWICH
Associated British Ports’ (ABP) Port of Ipswich has enjoyed a record month for imports of timber products. During April, Ipswich handled 32,500 cu m of timber from the Baltic states, Sweden and Finland – a new record for a single month.

Robert Smith, ABP Port Manager, Ipswich, said:

“We are always looking to increase trade, so it is very satisfying to see imports of timber products thriving at the port. Most of this cargo is for customers based on our West Bank Terminal, where they can also benefit from ABP’s state-of-the-art timber treatment centre.”

The Ipswich Timber Treatment Centre, which protects wood against decay and insect attack, has recently been converted to use ‘Tanalith E’, a chrome- and arsenic-free preservative.
