ABP DEVELOPS ADDITIONAL FOREST PRODUCTS FACILITIES AT PORT OF IMMINGHAM
Associated British Ports (ABP) is to build a 5,775 sq m warehouse next to Immingham Forest Products Terminal – the £1 million facility at ABP’s Port of Immingham which became operational in May 2003.

The new £700,000 warehouse will handle imports for Humber Timber Terminals Ltd, a new joint venture between Barrow Haven Shipping Services and Lacy & Middlemiss, under a new five-year agreement. In addition to the undercover storage space, ABP will provide Humber Timber Terminals with high-quality outside storage space within the new site.

John Copping, ABP Port Director, Grimsby & Immingham, said:

“ABP is responsive to the needs of its customers and provides facilities to match their requirements. I am delighted that we are able to do this for Humber Timber Terminals. Immingham is already a major centre for forest products and this new terminal will enable us to develop this trade further.”

Barrow Haven Shipping Services and Lacy & Middlemiss also import timber through Immingham’s sister-port of Grimsby.

Reg Port, Managing Director of Humber Timber Terminals said:

“We have worked with ABP at Grimsby for many years and we look forward to extending this relationship with the company at its Port of Immingham. Immingham’s natural deep water will enable us to introduce larger vessels to the service.”
