Passengers & Cruises Brittany Ferries runs services from Plymouth to Roscoff in Brittany, France, and Santander in northern Spain, for both passengers and freight cargoes. A new £100m cruise ferry entered service in March 2004 and, to accommodate this, ABP invested £4.5m in new land and waterside facilities at the port. A modern passenger terminal at the port’s Millbay Docks has an automated baggage-handling facility and extensive vehicle-marshalling areas, which speed up the turnaround of vessels and ease the flow of traffic. Plymouth is an increasingly popular, award-winning port of call for cruise liners, and provides modern, fully adjustable tender-berthing facilities to service ships moored in Plymouth Sound. The port has facilities for a wide range of cargoes, with West Wharf capable of handling vessels of up to 200 m in length and Trinity Pier accommodating vessels of up to 120 m in length.
