ABP ports handle more than 50 million tonnes of liquid bulks each year, the vast majority of which is petroleum products being imported into and exported from petrochemical manufacturers located in particular adjacent to the Ports of Southampton and Immingham. There are liquid bulk storage installations at 11 of ABP's 21 ports, all provided and operated by specialist liquid storage operators.
Throughout the range of ports, companies involved in this trade have the possibility to serve the whole of the British Isles. There is also the opportunity to connect these installations, for instance by rail, in order to establish a network of liquid storage facilities to serve regional markets.
The substantial range of tank storage provision throughout ABP's ports offers the industry to store petroleum products, petrochemicals, food-grade products and other vegetable and edilbe oils, including molasses; chemicals, natural gas, and alcohol.
